La Popelei

La Popelei (pop-eh-lay) is a British-Venezuelan DJ on a mission to make you wiggle. Describing herself as a Sunday roast stuffed arepa, she relishes in the chaotic clash of her bi-cultural roots. Entertaining is her superpower. She brings this magic to her decks and creates dancefloors that are intimate and guerilla.
La Popelei is all about bass; bring on the reggaeton, afrobeat, tropical bass, jungle, drum and bass and breaks. Anything else can f* right off (except power ballads, she loves a power ballad). Her tunes will get every cell in your body fizzing. Your movements will belong to the music and you’ll smile from centuries past.
Living in Bristol (where the bass is best) with her soulmate Monkey the dog, she dons her papaya crown for her ferociously juicy festival, PAPAYAFest. She curates spaces where movement meets madness and freedom means nipple tassles. Her new arts space POPS will open in Bristol soon, where all are welcome to come and play. After all, the dance floor is our playground.
